LAMPS stands for Linking Assessment and Measurement to Performance in
PHEP Systems. The primary objective of this multidisciplinary study is
to
assess and validate public health emergency preparedness (PHEP)
measures in the
United States, and to create a performance measure center based at
Harvard University.
The aims of this study are to:
- Investigate
the sources of information on PHEP communications among groups of different
ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic status (SES). These sources may include:
- mass
media channels such as television, radio, and newspapers
- interpersonal
channels such as friends, family, and members of social networks
- local
agencies and web sites
- Investigate
how people in diverse ethnic, racial, and SES groups are exposed to messages
about Emergency Preparedness.
- Following
the Measurement Development Cycle, develop a set of valid and reliable measures of
PHEP communications that include:
- exposure to PHEP messages in different media
- attention to PHEP messages
- measures such as credibility and trust that influence
processing
- the effect of PHEP messages, including:
- perceived susceptibility to threat at individual and
group level
- PHEP knowledge
- capacity to act in case of a threat behaviors (e.g., preparation)
